Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) is a technology that has the ability to recognise media content played on devices such as TV and radio.

To securely identify content, the app uses a smartphone’s microphone and digital fingerprinting software to uniquely identify media content, such as music or digital advertising.

For example, if you’re watching TV, the app will be able to identify specific adverts by using the microphone to create a digital fingerprint and match against a database of digital advertising.

ACR does NOT have the capability to recognise speech or analyse what a person is saying. The app is only able to identify known content by matching it against a predefined database of digital media.
